1st Night Out

Saturday night was the first time John and I have gone out for the night since Ethan was born. We had a friends 60th to go to and as he is a musician and the party was going to be at a bar we figured Ethan was going to have to stay home.
It was also to be my friend Jessicas first night out also since her little boy was born.
Grandad (Brian) came over to babysit for the night, so after dinner and putting Ethan down for the night we were off to Jesses to "Glam Up" then off into town. We had an excelent night with lots of dancing etc, and it was wonderful to hang up the "Mummy Mask" and just let hair down. (hehe, although we did have a photo of our darling boy to show of to everyone) We got home at about 2.30am. so after Ethans 6am feed he was passed to grandad for mum and dad to head back to bed for a much needed sleep in (gosh we must be getting old, cant handle the late nights anymore)
Our other big news for the night is that on Saturday (Day) while some friends were over, Ethan did his first rollover. While having some tummytime he managed to roll onto his back. He also did it later that night in time for john to see, however has not done it since.
Ethan also had his 12 weeks immunisations today, so has not been a happy chappy this afternoon.

We got a new pppy on the weekend, her name is Jazz, shes a sharpei x

Jazz is one day older than Ethan so they will be growing up together, she is such a little sweetheart, but its pretty full on round here at the moment between the two of them they are keeping me on my toes.

We also moved Ethan into his cot in his room, He has done so well, He goes down to bed about 7.30pm and usually sleeps through to 6am.

Must dash as we are out to dinner tonight...

The Story of the Rose

When I was little I was given a imitation Yellow rose (which I still have), this became my special flower
so now whenever I get sick or need cheering up Mum (and now John) gets me a yellow rose,
Paul (my brother) gets a pink rose as when he was little and sick Mum gave him a pink one.
So of course when Ethan had his surgery I rang Mm and said we have to choose a colour for him.
She bought in a couple of different colours in (and a new yellow one for me) and we chose White roses to be his special flower. So he has the one to keep forever and will get a fresh one whenever he needs it.

Its Been a quiet week this week, have spent it at home just relaxing for the most of it. We did go to the doctors to have his dressings removed. He now has 2 tiny little scars. As we were home i decided that it was time to go through his clothes and get them sorted. So now things that are too big yet have been put away till hes bit bigger, and all the stuff that fits now (or soon) is in his drawers. At the moment he is sleeping in our room still in the bassinet, but he is starting to get a bit long so will be moving into his cot very shortly.

hospitals and Hernias...

On Friday, our sweet little boy developed a hernia in his groin, came up really quickly and he was in alot of pain, so we got ourselves down to A & E pretty quick smart where john met us, they poked and prodded and decided he was to be transfered to Starship childrens hospital. By the time the ambulance came to take us over the heria had gone back in and he was ok however as they were possibly ging to have to operate he was to be kept nil by mouth untill he got there and they decide what was happening. so as we arrived he let the whole place know that he was starving and not happy bout it, they gave us the go ahead to give him a drink as because the hernia went back in they would oprate the next day instead, so it was up to the ward for the night, he was having a good time laughing at the nurses everytime they tried to put the monitor on him. Ethan slept wonderfully but im sure i spent most of night awake and not only because we were sharing a room with another baby who had just had the operation and his mum but they were up and down all night. was nil by mouth from 3am as op was booked for 9am, so with alot of distraction we managed to keep him fairly calm untill 10am when he went in (they were quite busy so was a little later than planned. Op went great they check the otherside and found another hernia so fixed that while they were there. He was a little upset when he woke but after he calmed down enough to take a feed he gave me a big smile that just melted my heart. Had to stay another night just to monitor him after having anestitic, during which time we had a new roommate, Anna age 11 and her mum, Anna was getting her apendix out and was a little scared but after seeing how happy Ethan was felt a little better. we also gave her a imitation yellow rose to keep to cheer her up and remember us by.

We've been busy

Wow... lifes pretty full on round here, Ethan seems to have a very busy social calender.
Friday 23rd we went to the musuem with walking group, I cant wait till he is bit older as the childrens section is just amazing these days.
Saturday afternoon was spent at buterfly creek for my birthday, late lunch with friends and wander through the butterfly house.
Sunday was Ethans first landrover club run, we spent day at Bethells sanddunes, he's a natural loved going over the bumps, and had good time sitting in pushchair watching the fun relays.

Monday is our stay at home day so we turned down invite over to see friends,
And Tuesday was a walk round Western Springswith Jessica and Dominic, where the two boys were popular with the asian tourists.
